Amlodipine

PHARMACOVIGILANCE

When used in pregnancy during the second and third trimesters, Amlodipine can cause injury and even death to the developing fetus. When pregnancy is diagnosed, treatment with Amlodipine should be stopped immediately, and, if appropriate, alternative therapy should be started. Prematurity has also been reported, although it is not clear whether these occurrences were due to exposure to the drug.

 INDICATIONS

Amlodipine is used or introduced when patients’ blood pressure rises inadequately above average or is dealing with hypertension.

ADULT DOSE

Amlodipine is prescribed to adults by mouth, 1 tablet daily, or as prescribed by the physician.

CHILD DOSE

Amlodipine is not suitable for children to use except on doctor’s orders and prescriptions.

ADMINISTRATION

Amlodipine is used orally once a day, with or without food. The pill should also be used at the same time each day and with a sufficient amount of fluid.

ADVICE TO PATIENT

Amlodipine is bound to cause dizziness, headache, or tiredness. Avoid strenuous activity or activity that requires total attention, such as driving, working with sharp objects, or heavy machinery after using a drug.

CONTRAINDICATION

Patients with low blood pressure, patients who show signs of hypersensitivity to Amlodipine or its other components, pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use Amlodipine except otherwise stated by the doctor.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Each tablet contains Amlodipine BP equivalent to Amlodipine and Olmesartan Medoxomil BP, depending on the manufacturer’s content per milligram.
